When lighting a large estate, we often design lighting compositions for individual outdoor spaces that provide a unique sense of lighting quality required for the space while complimenting the overall theme of the estate. We also phase in certain designs and installations over periods of time.

Our Solution

When working on this private estate, we broke the lighting design and installation into 3 phases based upon location and functionality. Phase 1 focused on the pool house and pool terrace where we installed a combination of pergola mounted down lights, tree and plant focused uplighting and various path lights. Phase 2 focused on uplighting the stately architecture to capture not only the overall compositional mass of the home but to also highlight more intimate details such as columns. Phase 3 focused on uplighting the large estate trees including oaks, tulip and an old stately Japanese maple. These trees are uplit to be viewed from the main house and provide an elevated perspective to scale the house with the landscape.
